The Westin Brisbane puts wellbeing front of mind for the meetings and events industry
With its focus on health and wellbeing, The Westin Brisbane will offer a holistic approach to meetings and conferences when it opens its doors on 8 November 2018. The highly anticipated property is the first Westin hotel to land in Queensland and offers five venues totalling 930 square metres of versatile, integrated conference and event space.
Walking distance from the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and just 20 kilometres from Brisbane Airport at 111 Mary Street, The Westin Brisbane will cater for events of all sizes from large productions and conferences to intimate meetings and celebrations.
The hotel’s 450 square metre ballroom caters for up to 500 people (cocktail style) or can be divided into two smaller spaces for events of up to 350 people (cocktail style). The Westin Brisbane also boasts two breakout rooms, which can be combined to accommodate up to 80 people (cocktail style) or 70 people theatre style, and three additional boardrooms, all with floor to ceiling glass windows creating a bright and dynamic space.
The Westin Brisbane’s ballroom, breakout rooms, pre-function area and signature restaurant Eden’s Table are located on the same floor to encourage collaboration and interaction. In-keeping with Westin’s sustainability goals, energy-efficient lightbulbs, double-sided notepads and water pitchers in lieu of bottled water, will help eliminate waste and reduce consumption.
“The Westin Brisbane will be the go-to hotel for event and meeting planners who are passionate about the health and wellbeing of their delegates,” said Brad Mercer, General Manager, The Westin Brisbane. “From the bright and dynamic venues to fresh and nutritious menus, we’ll work closely with our clients to ensure guests leave the hotel feeling better than when they arrived.”
Event organisers can extend their functions outside to the hotel’s pool level, which can accommodate up to 250 people (cocktail style) and includes Brisbane’s first swim up pool bar. With views across the city skyline, the pool level can be divided into three areas – Podium, Promenade and Pier – for smaller events or pop-up activations.
Catering up to 150 seated guests, The Westin Brisbane’s signature restaurant, Eden’s Table, will create a standout culinary destination in Brisbane. Featuring fresh, local produce, with interactive cooking elements and a 60-seat private dining space, the restaurant provides another option for guests seeking an alternative meeting or event space. To celebrate the end of a successful event, the hotel’s jazz bar The Charles’ will provide a sophisticated space for evening drinks and live music.
Between meetings or as part of an incentive programme, delegates can relax and unwind in the hotel’s Heavenly® Spa by Westin - Westin’s first in Australia. The spa, which can be booked out exclusively, offers a range of treatments from therapeutic massages to cleansing facials and invigorating body treatments, designed to stimulate the senses and nourish both body and mind.
Private and group yoga and Pilates classes can be arranged for guests on the deck areas overlooking the swimming pool, and fitness enthusiasts can take advantage of the hotel’s personal trainer and WestinWORKOUT® fitness studio. Conference groups can also explore the local area with the hotel’s RunWESTIN Concierge – a dedicated resource for guests and groups looking for a running partner to showcase the best running tracks and trails around the city.
When the hotel opens, The Westin Brisbane will boast 299 guest rooms and suites with sweeping views of the city skyline and an exclusive Westin Club for guests staying on designated club floors. Guests will enjoy signature Westin services and amenities, such as the world-renowned Heavenly® Bed by Westin.
Catering to larger groups, The Westin Brisbane also offers access to the services and facilities at its sister complex property, Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane. Together the two hotels, located adjacent to each other, offer 545 rooms, 10 meeting rooms, with a combined 1,240 square metres of event and meeting space, plus five restaurants and bars. Delegates and event attendees are welcome to stay at either property and utilise the meetings and events spaces across both hotels, from the outdoor space at The Westin Brisbane to the roof top bar at Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane. Meetings and events planners will also benefit from having one point of contact across the two properties, receiving one master bill, the ability to scale events and tiered accommodation across a five and a four-and-a-half-star hotel.
The Westin Brisbane has partnered with Microhire, a leading Australian audio-visual company, to provide the best-in-class technology across the hotel’s meeting and event venues. The suite of technology available at the hotel will be supported with extremely quick Internet access, with a generous data limit of 500Mb across the property, which can be scaled to 1,000Mb for large scale, technology enabled events.
