Sheraton Fiji Resort Launches State of the Art Meeting Facilities
Following a $20 million-dollar investment, the Denarau Island Conference Centre has officially opened in style welcoming 3,000 delegates for the 52nd Annual Asia Development Bank, Board of Governors Annual Meeting.
The state-of-the-art conference and meeting facilities feature the latest AV technology. For the ADB event specifically, the Convention Centre was fitted out with a 30 metre LED digital display video wall, over 90 intelligent moving lights hung on a custom truss rig weighing over 6,000 kilograms, plus the ultimate sound quality experience through an equalising acoustic system. Two air-conditioned 900 square metre marquees were installed at the resort's Denarau Golf and Racquet Club, in addition to the five venues also used at The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa.
Complementing the new and transformed venues is a purpose-built banquet kitchen, coffee and dispense stations, additional new washroom facilities, plus the finest ergonomic furniture to ensure delegates are comfortable and event performance is enhanced.
In addition to the transformed 1,755 square metre Convention Centre and 600 square metre Golden Ballroom, the new 270 square metre Pacific Ballroom is now open for business. This state-of-the-art venue has the flexibility to convert into four separate and soundproof breakout venues named after the major rivers of Fiji: Rewa (90 square metres), Sigatoka (60 square metres), Navua (60 square metres), and Dreketi (60 square metres).
Across the eight carefully designed and versatile meeting and event venues within the Denarau Island Conference Centre, Sheraton Fiji Resort and The Westin Denarau, spaces can be configured to deliver a myriad of layouts from cabaret, classroom, theatre and cocktail with the benefit of close access to large outdoor green and beach areas.
Multi Property Vice President for Fiji and Samoa Marriott International and General Manager Westin and Sheraton Resorts Fiji Complex, Mr Neeraj Chadha says, “MICE is a hugely important segment of our business and this investment has delivered world class facilities and highlights our support to not only the industry, but to providing a platform to showcase Fiji to a wider audience.”
