The Roundhouse is On Track for 2020
The light rail stop on Anzac Parade is on the venue’s doorstep and will see services to and from the CBD every 8 minutes.
Sydney Light Rail has begun tram testing and is forecast to reach completion targets. Passenger services will begin operating from Kingsford to the CBD in March 2020, connecting the Roundhouse directly to the city.
News of the impending completion has come as welcome news to the venue and to the events community. Tram services will enable event organisers to easily transport guests to and from the CBD and utilise the unique space for conferences up to 1,000 and concerts up to 2,200.
Jason Lyons, Head of Venue and Events at the Roundhouse commented “The service will open up new opportunities for us to attract clients who traditionally preference city-based venues due to their convenience. With our proximity to the airport, extensive bus services to UNSW and the new light rail service, we’re more accessible than ever.”
Robyn Johnson CEO of Meeting & Events Australia (MEA) added, “The new light rail to the UNSW will give event organisers confidence in hosting their events at the Roundhouse. The venue will be quick and easy to access and there will be a curiosity factor when it is opened to the public. MEA is looking forward to holding an event at the Roundhouse for the industry to sample the new renovated venue and the new mode of transport when the light rail opens in March 2020”.
The venue has seen major interest from the conference and events industry, while maintaining its reputation as one of Sydney’s favourite live music venues. Its clients include THE ICONIC, the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and Green Building Council of Australia.
To celebrate the light rail opening, the Roundhouse is giving event organisers the opportunity to win a discount on their 2020 event. For more information, visit the Roundhouse website.
