The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) has been recognised with an industry award for conducting a successful 2019 Royal Melbourne Wine Awards (RMWA).
During a live broadcast from the Meeting and Events Australia (MEA) National Award Ceremony on Friday evening, the annual wine event was declared as the MEA 2019 Victorian Corporate Event of the Year, recognising and celebrating a corporate event that was successfully planned, organised and managed.
Conducted by the RASV for more than 135 years, the RMWA gives producers the opportunity to benchmark their wines against industry standards, seek advice from an independent panel of experts, and promote and market award winning products using the RMWA seal of excellence.
The event involved more than 3,050 wines tasted over five days during October by a judging panel of 37 industry experts, culminating in a prestigious awards presentation function in the new banquet venue, Victoria Pavilion at Melbourne Showgrounds.
A new addition in 2019 was the inaugural consumer wine tasting and appreciation event, ‘The Jimmy Watson Trophy Lunch’, which invited corporate markets and wine enthusiasts to celebrate the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards trophy winners.
The MEA Awards included a rigorous judging process that involved the submission of a detailed written application with the judging undertaken by a panel of event industry leaders and experts around Australia.
CEO of the RASV, Brad Jenkins, was thrilled that the RASV had received industry recognition for conducting the prestigious event.
“The Royal Melbourne Wine Awards provides Australian winemakers with a unique and valuable platform to leverage their success of winning a medal locally and internationally by promoting the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards seal of excellence,” said Mr Jenkins.
“To receive this award from Meeting and Events Australia is wonderful recognition for our fantastic team at the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria and our fabulous new Victoria Pavilion at Melbourne Showgrounds, the venue for the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards” Mr Jenkins concluded.
The new Victoria Pavilion at Melbourne Showgrounds is the ideal venue for corporate functions up to 1300 banquet style (400 people with the new COVID-19 restrictions). Complete with a stunning foyer, state of the art technology and service to match, Victoria Pavilion is recommended for lunches, dinners, cocktail parties, product displays, conferences and much more.
