Service Description
Celebrating the first anniversary of its move to the Old Alice Springs Gaol on International Women's Day, the National Pioneer Women's Hall of Fame features the newly arrived Aviatrix Tapestry along with the inspiring ‘Ordinary Women/Extraordinary Lives; Women First in their Field’ and the ‘Women at the Heart’ exhibition.
The signature quilt of ‘first women’ and ‘Women’s Work is never done’, including artifacts illustrating women’s work of yesteryear, continue to attract attention and comment from visitors.
The gaol was open 1938-1996 and held, among others, Albert Namatjira. The cell blocks and grounds are open for visitors to explore.
The courtyard is a great place for drinks and the huge lawn is available for events.
