Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney and Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island’s joint “Kiwi” Bar Promotion raises AU$3000 for Christchurch Shooting Victims
The Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney and Radisson Blu Resort Fiji held a food and wine promotion during April and May, which saw $1 from each menu item sold being donated to the Christchurch shooting victims in New Zealand.
Upon discovering the “Give a Little” victim support fund, the hotels took the opportunity to set up this initiative to ensure they did their part in supporting those affected by the shooting. At the conclusion of the two months, the combined efforts of both hotels led to AU$3000 donated to the support fund.
The hotels’ “Kiwi” bar promotion featured classic flavours and traditional ingredients which are popular in New Zealand. It also included a select pairing of New Zealand wines to accompany these dishes.
“Give a Little” is an online fundraiser by Spark Foundation, which provides a public domain for those worldwide to show support and donate money directly to those affected by the Christchurch shooting. All money raised will contribute to providing support and resources, whether that be emergency financial assistance, accommodation, funeral costs, counselling or family support.
The hotels have ensured they chose a charity for this food and drinks promotion which will directly impact the lives of those who suffered the attacks. “Whilst we had planned this promotion much earlier in the year, with this unfortunate incident in Christchurch, we are committed to contribute $1 of every item purchased from the promotional menu towards the fundraiser, for the benefit of those affected” said Peter Tudehope, General Manager of Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney and Regional Manager of Australia/Pacific.
The menus featured New Zealand delicacies such as whitebait fritters, hokey pokey ice cream with kiwi fruit, the popular fish and chips, as well as high quality produce such as New Zealand lamb ribs with kumara wedges and Kiwi beef burgers with beetroot relish.
